3DS1 sunset is approaching fast
From October 15th the major card networks will sunset the usage of 3DS1 and will only support EMV 3DS2.1 or higher protocols.
To make sure merchants stay compliant they need to upgrade to EMV 3DS2.2. This will lead to improved security and a better payment experience for their customers. Also, it will bring merchants the benefit of better protection against fraud and chargebacks, and decreased cart abandonment.

What will happen if merchants and providers stay with 3DS1.0?
Staying with 3DS1 will result in unsuccessful transactions. This will lead to cart abandonments, less revenue, and unhappy customers that will not return.
October 14th, 2022: American Express will terminate SafeKey 1.0 worldwide, except in India. All Secure transactions will be processed through the EMV 3DS2.2 x flow.
October 15th, 2022: Visa will stop supporting 3DS1.
October 18th, 2022: Mastercard will decommission 3DS1. Mastercard will no longer process any 3DS1 transactions for cardholder authentication. Any transaction submitted to the Mastercard 3DS1 Directory Server will result in an error response.
